If you have this problem tap your camera in table while is off in different angles. Some observations and thoughts: There are very few screws holding the camera together. As some have already suggested, the gears themselves can be broken (although I find this pretty unlikely - it didn't seem likely that the plastic would break or chip). My Sony Cybershot had the same problem...A couple of taps on my desktop and it's fixed! Using your finger or a plastic spudger, carefully lift the black tabs on the two ribbon connectors shown in green. The I/O port can now be removed.
I can still ***** previously snapped pics when i re-play suggesting that its only the shooting mode that has a problem. My sprung open whilst I was hitting the camera and I bent it.
